Where to check reported penny items
Start with a maintained list, then check the publication date and exact product details. An old article or photo is not evidence of today’s price.
Check the exact item
- Match the brand, product size, packaging and UPC. Similar-looking products can have different prices.
- Choose your actual store in the official app before checking an item.
- Confirm the price with staff at checkout. App information is not a guarantee of inventory or the final register price.
- Respect store decisions. A reported penny item may be unavailable or removed from sale.

Our research standard
We record the source, report date, exact product details and last check. We do not copy another publisher’s complete curated list. Conflicting dates, incomplete UPCs and unclear product matches are held for review.
